Unfortunately, the instructions do not live up to the project's standards.

This was another fun and successful build, the quality of the parts and design is outstanding, with super easy instructions to follow. I was impressed with the size and how menacing it looks once displayed.

I enjoyed the assembly of this puzzle. This type of puzzle with the precision cut pieces are much more satisfying to do than the other types of steampunk puzzles. As long as you are very careful with the assembly instructions you tend to get a great result whereas the other style depending on the types of pieces can be very frustrating at times.

This model is awesome! Pretty straight forward to build, but there are issues with the directions.
There is no clear indication whatsoever as to what nut is used - the diagrams do not show some of the more crucial fastenings.
The screws are all lumped together in one bag, and the sizes in the drawings don't always match the ones in the bag.
The battery for the head LED unit was just put loose in the bag of nuts, etc., unprotected so it was completely dead when I retrieved it from the parts bag.
Just so you know (manufacturer / QA person) batteries will short out in a bag of metal parts. Put the battery in a separate zip-lock bag.
I had to watch a video of the build to determine which screw and nut fastens the mid body to the front body - very poor diagrams again - and it still wasn't very clear, so I just winged it.
Other than all that, I love the Hornet. I just wish the manufacturer would put as much effort into the drawings and description of parts as they do the parts themselves. I am really impressed with the fit and finish of the metal parts. I hope that when I replace the battery for the head LED it works, because in the video of the build the little magnetic circuit board didn't work.
That would be a shame, because the head lighting up is such a cool feature! I will comment again once I replace the battery and let you know if it works.

I'm doing the praying mantis next. The diagrams look like they are a little hard to follow as well, but we'll see. I will review that one once I get into it.
